Our friends Nick and Daniel are confident in their style: Nick is the Vice President of Sales at Apparatus Lighting, and Daniel works in fashion as a jewelry designer. Because we know (and appreciate) their taste so well, the couple asked us for help renovating their apartment on the Upper East Side—which had good bones, but needed the right personal finishes to make it their own. The result is a clean, traditional space packed with unconventional details. We added Art Deco-inspired crown molding and herringbone floors, but with a twist—Nick suggested that the pattern run parallel to the walls. Similarly, the kitchen had to be an exact shade of “Prada green,” which led us down a rabbit hole that eventually led to comparing paint samples inside an actual Prada store. A 70s-inspired, wood-paneled den features comfortable textures and unexpected color pairings. The couple’s impressive art and furniture collection completes the apartment’s upscale, yet entirely unpretentious feel.
