With three of their four kids living in New York, a Brazilian couple needed a city pied-à-terre with ample space for hosting friends and family. In contrast to their Daniel Libeskind-designed contemporary home back in Brazil, they wanted a classic feel for their new Upper West Side space. The discovery of an Isidore Leroy wallpaper in Paris served as a springboard for the project’s refined palette and understated tone. We added character to the walls with moldings, and kept the textures warm and informal, especially in the cozy bedrooms. In the end, the apartment is a charming blend of Parisian and mid-century influence, with subtle nods to bolder Brazilian design.
